Specifications

To provide a modular underground storm water re-use tanks that will act as a capillary watering system to support plant growth under highway underpasses.

Solution

The National Park Board in Singapore in conjunction with Elmich utilized VersiTank Plus 840 to form part of an integrated storm water management system. Surface water from road overpasses is channeled into a filtration sump where debris, sediment and hydrocarbons are removed before passing into interlocked VersiTank Plus 840 units below ground.

The sides and bottom of the tanking system were enveloped with Evalon, an EVA/PVC high strength sheet waterproofing membrane to contain run-off water. Geotextile was positioned on the surface to stop the ingress of soil media that was installed above the tanking system. Storm water in the tanks moves, via capillary action, through the soil system to the root zone of selected plant species planted in the growing media above the VersiTank Plus 840 units.

This cost effective system ensures that surface run-off is captured, filtered and effectively used via capillary action to maintain vigorous plant growth, resulting in an aesthetically pleasing environment below highway overpasses.

Apartment Complex

Specifications

To provide a 300m3 modular underground stormwater re-use tank system, that will withstand the weight of light maintenance equipment, under a large landscaped garden.

Solution

VersiTanks 550 modules were assembled and interlocked on site, positioned in an excavated area and enveloped with a sandwich containing an inner layer of geotextile, a low density polyethylene inner impermeable liner and an outer geotextile layer. The system covered with a 250mm soil mix, lawn and landscaped species planted withstands the weight of light maintenance equipment. Storm water from the apartment complex passes into a leaf/silt trap into the tanking system and then pumped to irrigate a large landscaped area.

Republic Polytechnic Singapore

Specifications

To provide waterproofing membrane protection and efficient sub-soil drainage under llandscaped roof areas on the 20ha site of the campus.

Solution

VersiCell lightweight interlocking drainage modules were positioned over Evalon thermoplastic waterproofing membrane, after which a geotextile filter fabric was installed over the drainage modules and growing media placed on the geotextile. VersiCell provided protection to the waterproofing membrane and easily withstood the weight of equipment used during the subsequent installation growing media. VersiCell modules provide the necessary cavity beneath the planted areas to efficiently discharge excess sub-soil water and prevent water-logging on the landscape roof. The resultant lush greenery on the campus grounds has earned the Polytechnic the nickname of “Campus in the Park”.

HDB Car Park

To provide a range of products to facilitate the establishment of an extensive green roof on a re-inforced concrete rooftop of the Car Park that is attractive and offers effective thermal insulation to reduce urban heat island effects.

Solution

VersiDrain 25P drainage and water retention trays were installed over Evalon, a highly UV and root resistant thermoplastic sheet waterproofing membrane. Geotextile was laid over the VersiDrain 25P and EnviroMix GR lightweight inorganic planting media positioned evenly on top followed by planting of various drought tolerant and colourful plant species arranged in attractive patterns. Rainwater retained by the trays during wet periods, is returned to the planting media by capillary action, during dry spells to maintain healthy plant growth.

An attractive external green wall designed by Garden Success and installed by 4 Seasons Nursery incorporates both red and green Altenanthera “Exhibition Border” established on both faces of the Elmich Vertical Green Wall modules. The modules are contained in a metal framing system and irrigation lines between each layer of modules provide liquid nutrient solution.

Aramsa Garden Spa Singapore

Specifications

To create an extensive green roof on a sloped metal roof that will assimilate well into the natural ambience of the Park, serve as thermal insulation barrier and minimize noise transference during periods of heavy rainfall.

Solution

Aluminium battens were anchored onto the metal sloping roof to prevent plant media movement and VersiCell drainage modules placed between the metal ribs to provide a level surface for the subsequent installation of VersiDrain 25P drainage and water retention trays. A geotextile filter fabric was positioned over the VersiDrain 25P drainage and retention trays and EnviroMix GR lightweight inorganic planting media placed on the filter fabric. Locally sourced low maintenance plant species selected for their hardiness, colour, height and ability to tolerate high tropical rainfall followed by hot and dry periods were planted.

Our New VersiDrain 30 is a new addition to our product line.This replaces the VersiDrain 25 enabling it to holds more water and is more compact in design
